Husseinat Etti-Balogun is currently pursuing a Master’s in Space Systems Engineering at Kyushu Institute of Technology, where she is working on the topic “The Impact of Visual and Interactive Documentation on CubeSat Flight Software Reuse.” Husseinat has demonstrated a strong commitment to space technology development for close to four years, contributing to multiple projects in varying capacities. She currently serves as the On-Board Computer (OBC) Lead for the BIRDS-RPM project and is an active member of the OBC team within the Leopard satellite project at Kyutech. She also volunteers as a Community Coordinator for the LibreCube and UNISEC-Nigeria organizations, supporting collaboration and knowledge-sharing in the open-source space community, as well as SGAC in the capacity of an Executive Secretary. Beyond her technical contributions, Husseinat is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experiences with the community. She believes in the power of open-source collaboration to propel the space industry forward and is thrilled to present at the upcoming BIRDS Bus Open Source Webinar.

This presentation will provide an update on recent improvements to the BIRDS Open Source community pages and documentation website, highlighting new features and navigation aids designed to support users and contributors. A live demonstration will showcase how users can now more easily find information, contribute, and engage with the project’s resources. The presentation will also contextualize these updates within ongoing research on the impact of visual and interactive documentation on CubeSat flight software reuse—a key consideration for educational satellite projects and emerging spacefaring nations. Attendees will learn how the integration of user-friendly, interactive documentation can enhance collaboration and lower the barrier to entry for new teams. The talk will conclude with an open invitation for feedback, aiming to incorporate community perspectives into the continuous improvement of the BIRDS Open Source project.
